"One More Payday..."
Hi, I’m Jake. I jumped out of a strategy career at an ad agency with no parachute and it seems I have landed here.
For years, I simply psyched myself into holding out for "one more payday." But in the fall of 2022, I reached ultimate burnout. Counting the days until payday just wasn't worth it anymore. I felt arcanely uncool and unhappy in the work life I had been leading. I wasn't sharing my true talents or passions with anyone at all.
The first day when my typical direct deposit did NOT hit, I had a powerful shower thought. In order to beat my personal payday psychosis, I needed to try to make money. As in, making physical items with my own hands that would be felt (no pun intended) and seen, instead of withering away in a document or email thread.
Since that "sabbatical" I taught myself to sew and screen print, and have slowly transformed my little Kansas City home into the workplace I always wanted. The goal was always to make pennants and banners that would express the things I had enjoyed the most in the times when I wasn't stressing about work or counting down 'til payday.
I still like to think that Payday Pennants pay tribute to the little things that bring us all joy, and echo the sentiments of the overworked, the underpaid, and the downright deserving of a proverbial (or literal) payday.
I hope you'll take a look around and consider showing your walls some love with a carefully handmade creation from Payday Pennant Co.
